Tài yǐ jīnguāng shén zhòu
太 乙 金 光 神 咒 Taiyi Golden Light Spirit Mantra
Jīn guāng shuò wū, ruì qì yíng tíng.
金 光 烁 屋， 瑞 气 盈 庭。The golden light shines in the house, its auspicious energy fills the yard.
Tài yǐ dào qì, zhōu liú gǔ jīn.
太 乙 道 炁，周 流 古 今。Tai Yi, (the Cosmic creative energy,) the Tao’s energy, flows nonstop throughout ancient and modern times.
Gān lù guàn dǐng, guāng míng yù shēn.
甘 露 灌 顶， 光 明 浴 身。The nectar pours down through the top of the head, its light and brightness bathe the body of mine.
Sān yè qīngjìng, wǔzàng xuánmíng.
三 业 清 净， 五 脏 玄 明。The karmas of the three realms are cleared and cleaned, the five internal organs become healthy and bright.
Nèiwài míng chè, xiǎn wǒ yuán shén.
内 外 明 彻， 显 我 元 神。When inside and outside are completely brightened, my soul thus appears.
Liántiān tōng di, xiángguāng yòu zhòng.
连 天 通 地， 祥 光 佑 众。Connecting with the heaven and channeling to the earth, it brings auspicious light to bless all beings.
Yǔzhòu wàn yǒu, jiē shì wú zhēn.
宇 宙 万 有， 皆 是 吾 真。The universe possesses ten thousands things. All this is my Truth Being. (Everything in the universe is my truth body.)
Sān qīng shèng zǔ, gǎn chéng ér yīng.
三 清 圣 祖，感 诚 而 应。The Three Clear Holy Ancestors, respond our sincerity answering our prayers.
Sòng zhī wàn biàn, guāngmíng lín shēn.
诵 之 万 遍， 光 明 临 身。Recite this mantra ten thousand times, and our body will (become) lighten and be bright.
Yī qì yǎn huà, yǎo yǎo míng míng.
一 炁 演 化， 杳 杳 冥 冥。When a drop of source Qi evolves, ten thousand things are transformed.
Translator’s Comment
This Taoist Taiyi Golden Light (Spirit) Mantra has eighty Chinese characters, and has the functions of protecting one's home, purifying one's body, manifesting one's spirit, enlightening oneself, and attaining the Tao. It is also a mantra of elixir alchemy.
This Gold, here means indestructible, is not necessarily as golden color. Taiyi, which means Qi, that is, the ancestral Qi, the pre-heaven Qi, which does not increase or decrease, neither arises nor dies, and transforms all things into being, which is the Qi of the origin of the universe. It is also origin of lives. It contains the Yin Yang energies.
This mantra is passed down from the immortal world, recite it daily, can help people to directly connect and responds to the original energy of the universe, and directly communicates with the Supreme energy form, the Three Clear Holly Ancestors. It is one of the most universal divine mantras. There is no limitation for who, where, when, etc. It can be chanted slowly orally, recited, silently, etc., or it can combine with other methods or exercises to practice Taoism. It is the great treasure of the immortal practice, and the true being’s cultivation. Together with the Golden Light Divine Mantra and the Great Golden Light Divine Mantra, they are called the three major golden light mantras of Taoism.
